Relaxing Books

One day I'll write an essay on why so many survivors seem to love science fiction and fantasy books (and dragons)... til I get round to doing that, this is the beginnings of a list of my favourite books to relax and escape with.

  • Succulent Wild Woman (and anything else by) SARK - wonderful wonderful bright books that are a treat just to look at let alone read.

  • Anything by P D James - can't get better than this for mysteries.. except maybe..

  • The Earthsea Quartet Ursula Le Guin Wonderful series, although the fourth book, Tehanu, is kind of triggery for survivors.

  • The Wrinkle in Time Quartet Madeleine L'Engle The third one, a Swiftly Tilting Planet, is probably my favourite.. but they're all great!

  • The Mists of Avalon Marion Zimmer Bradley Some of her other stuff (like Cassandra) isn't half as good as this.. great story and well told.

You can also try the Amazon recommendations below - the books will change each time you refresh the page. I've picked science fiction and fantasy novels, as they are still my current "escape" favourites.
