Abuse and its consequences
Child sexual abuse is any form of sexual activity with a child by an adult, or by another child where there is no consent; consent is manipulated or coerced; or consent is not possible.
Sexual abuse includes showing a child pornographic materials, placing the child's hand on another person's genitals, touching a child's genitals, and penetration. Penetration does not have to occur for it to be sexual abuse.
Notes:
“Emotional abuse is the systematic diminishment of another. It may be intentional or subconscious (or both), but it is always a course of conduct, not a single event. It is designed to reduce a child's self-concept to the point where the victim considers themselves unworthy—unworthy of respect, unworthy of friendship, unworthy of the natural birthright of all children: love and protection.”
